PATIENT PREPARATION
Please choose the prep for your specific study
Proper preparation for your study means you will get the best study possible. The prep that is outline in this section is what is needed so the technologist gets the proper pictures for you.

Of course, if you have any issues with any of the prep, or your don't see prep for your study, you can contact us for further information or clarification. We will do the best we can to make sure you are comfortable without compromising the quality of your study.
ULTRASOUND PREP
Abdomen, Aorta, Ltd Abdomen - Nothing to eat or drink from midnight or 8 hours before your study.

Pelvis, Kidney & Bladder - Finish drinking 1 litre of water 1 hour prior to the study and hold your bladder until the technologist has you empty it.

OB - Finish drinking 1 litre of water 1 hour prior to the study and hold your bladder until the Technologist has you empty it.
​
MSK, Soft Tissue, Vascular - There is no prep for these studies.

XRAY PREP
There is no specific prep for an Xray. However, the Technologist may ask you to change into a gown if required for the study.

MAMMOGRAM
Avoid using deodorant, lotions, powders, creams or perfume under your arms or on your breasts.
You will be asked to change into a gown for your study.

BMD (BONE MINERAL DENSITY)
No metal around your waist. Wear track pants or yoga pants for the study. For females, it is ideal to wear a sports bra or no bra for the study.

NUCLEAR MEDICINE
Bone scan - This is a 2 part test. The first part involves receiving a radioactive injection. This is about 15 minutes. The second part involves whole body imaging for an hour and is 3-5 hours after the injection. Your Technologist will tell you when to return.

There are no restrictions for this test. You have to drink 3-4 glasses of any liquid and empty your bladder frequently, you don't have to hold it in for this test.
